OH yes… I went there. Not only because it’s amazing for my complexion but because this pumpkin spice craze has taken over the minds of women all over the country. Because if boots and North Face zip ups aren’t good enough we need pumpkin spice latte’s, muffins, beer, infused vodka, perfume, chapstick and at this point, pumpkin spice tampons. As women we want to become one with the pumpkin, we want to be the pumpkin. We want to see, smell, feel pumpkins all day every day for 31 days and don’t want to be judged for it.
OH you don’t like pumpkin? “you can’t sit with us!”
Turns out, pumpkin is actually good for the skin. It’s full of Vitamin A which softens the skin and has natural enzymes that help promote new cell production. Another ingredient is cinnamon which can reduce signs of aging and help reduce fine lines. This tasty spice is also known to heal acne. Honey also does wonders in helping dry out them dirty little pimples and open the pores making them easier to unclog. So let’s get down and basic. Turn on some Hocus Pocus and let’s whip up a batch shall we?
- 1 cup pumpkin (either canned or fresh)
- 1/3 cup honey (I personally added a little more due to good results from previous DIY honey based facial masks and cleaners)
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (recommend that this be left out if you have sensitive skin)
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
